About Math41
Math41 is an interactive, online platform designed to make learning, teaching, and publishing educational content accessible and collaborative for everyone. Our mission is to support users of all backgrounds, whether students, teachers, parents, or authors, by offering tools to create and engage with various subjects, including mathematics, programming, science, and language arts.
Through our unique Math41 Editor, users can create, solve, and publish custom problems using TeX, Python, and our proprietary Data Canvas, which is optimized for scientific visualization. Our platform empowers educators to design assignments, tests, and real-time interactive slides for students, while parents can access their children’s results and feedback. Authors can develop new problems and educational resources, manage their content, and collaborate with other users for validation before making their work public.
User Privacy
At Math41, user privacy is a priority. We require only an email address for sign-up and do not collect additional personal information beyond optional usernames for community identification purposes. Users retain full control over their content and can manage its privacy, and if they choose to make content public, they retain ownership while allowing others to use or view it within the platform’s guidelines.
Our Commitment
Our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy set forth clear guidelines for content ownership, user roles, and the collaborative aspects of creating, sharing, and validating educational materials on Math41. These policies are in place to ensure a positive, constructive, and secure environment for learning and collaboration.

1. Overview
Math41 provides an interactive platform for learning, teaching, and publishing in various subjects, including mathematics, programming, language arts, science, and social studies. Our platform allows users to create and publish content using the Math41 editor, which supports TeX, Python, and our own developed tool, Data Canvas. Data Canvas is a computable plotting tool optimized for scientific drawing, where graphs and figures are generated from data and code.
2. User Roles and Responsibilities
Math41 offers different functionalities based on user qualifications, with the following roles:
- Teacher: Teachers can create and publish exams, tests, and assignments for their students, view students’ results, provide comments, grade tests, write reports, create class slides, and share interactive real-time slides with students.
- Parents: Parents can access their child’s test results and view reports written by the teacher.
- Students: Students can study tutorials, solve problems, take tests assigned by their teachers, and participate in interactive real-time slides.
- Authors: Authors can create problems using the Math41 editor and Data Canvas, request validation for problems they create, and manage their content.
- All Users: All users can engage in discussions via the message system, raise issues about problems, and use the chat service for further support. All feedback, comments, and discussions can become assets of Math41 and may be used by the platform.
3. Content Ownership, Permissions, and Copyright
Math41 encourages users to create and share educational content. However, specific rules and permissions apply:
- Ownership of Content: Users retain full ownership of the content they create. Math41 does not impose guidelines on user-created content, but inappropriate content, spamming, unauthorized copying, or misuse of the platform is prohibited.
- Permissions for Content Management: Authors can assign permissions that allow other users to:
- Publish: Make the content publicly viewable on the platform.
- Update: Modify and improve upon the original content.
- Fork: Copy the content to a new template ID to develop derivative works.
- Translate: Translate content into other languages for broader accessibility.
When these permissions are granted, users with the rights to publish, update, fork, or translate content must ensure that modifications respect the original author’s intent. Forked or translated versions will automatically link back to the original template ID, preserving a traceable link to the original author.
- Content Validation and Public Availability
After content creation, Authors must request their work for validation to ensure accuracy and quality. Only users with specific validation rights have the authority to review and validate content. Once validated, the content may be made available to the public. - Public and Private Content: Users may make their content public, allowing others to view or use it. However, authors can choose to delete or revert content to private at any time.
- Copyright and Copyright Agent: The original author maintains copyright ownership. Math41 will only act as a copyright agent for public content. Any intent to transfer copyright ownership to Math41 or another party must be formalized through a separate agreement.
- Content Sharing and Modifications: Only the original author has the authority to manage content visibility, share permissions, or delete it. However, authors may grant modification rights to others, allowing them to contribute improvements or translations. Users with shared access rights cannot delete content, ensuring the original author’s control over their work.
