General Chart/Graph Terms

1. Axis 축
   • A line on a graph used to measure data. The x-axis is horizontal, and the y-axis is vertical.
   • 그래프에서 데이터를 측정하는 기준선으로 축은 가로축, 축은 세로축을 나타냅니다.
2. Coordinates 좌표
   • A set of numbers, usually written as , that shows the position of a point on a graph.
   • 그래프 위 점의 위치를 나타내는 숫자 쌍으로 보통 로 표현됩니다.
3. Scale 스케일
   • The range of numbers divided into equal parts on an axis to help measure data.
   • 데이터를 쉽게 측정할 수 있도록 축에 나눠진 숫자의 범위와 간격을 말합니다.
4. Legend 범례
   • A small box that explains the colors, symbols, or patterns used in a chart.
   • 차트에 사용된 색상, 기호, 또는 패턴을 설명해 줍니다.
5. Trend 추세
   • The overall direction or pattern that data follows over time.
   • 데이터가 시간에 따라 움직이는 전반적인 방향입니다.
     
     

Types of Charts

1. Bar Chart 막대그래프
   • A graph that uses bars to compare data. The length of each bar shows how much or how many.
   • 막대의 길이로 데이터의 크기나 양을 나타내는 그래프입니다.
     
     

2. Line Graph 선 그래프
   • A graph that connects data points with a line to show how things change over time.
   • 시간에 따라 데이터가 어떻게 변하는지 선으로 연결해 보여주는 그래프입니다.
     
     

3. Pie Chart 원형 차트
   • A circular chart divided into slices to show how much each part contributes to the whole.
   • 전체에서 각 부분이 얼마나 차지하는지 보여주기 위해 원을 나눈 차트입니다.
     
     

4. Histogram 히스토그램
   • A bar graph that shows how often data falls into different ranges called intervals).
   • 데이터를 구간별로 나눠 빈도를 나타낸 막대 그래프입니다.
     
     

5. Scatter Plot 산점도
   • A graph with dots that shows the relationship between two things.
   • 두 가지 데이터 간의 관계를 점으로 나타내는 그래프입니다.
     
     

6. Box Plot 상자 그림
   • A graph that shows key details about data, like the median, quartiles, and outliers.
   • 중앙값, 사분위수, 이상값 같은 데이터를 한눈에 보여주는 그래프입니다.
7. Area Chart 영역 차트
   • A graph similar to a line graph but with the space under the line filled in.
   • 선 그래프와 비슷하지만 선 아래 부분이 채워진 그래프입니다.
8. Bubble Chart 버블 차트
   • A scatter plot where the size of each bubble shows an extra piece of data.
   • 점 대신 버블(동그라미) 크기로 추가 데이터를 표현한 그래프입니다.
9. Radar Chart 레이더 차트
   • A circular graph that compares different data points on multiple axes from the center.
   • 중심에서 여러 축을 따라 데이터를 비교하는 원형 그래프입니다.
10. Heat Map 히트맵
    • A chart that uses colors to show the intensity or size of data in a table or matrix.
    • 색상으로 데이터의 크기나 강도를 나타내는 차트입니다.
11. Venn Diagram 벤 다이어그램
    • A diagram with overlapping circles to show relationships between groups.
    • 겹치는 원으로 집합 간의 관계를 보여주는 다이어그램입니다.
      
      

12. Stem-and-Leaf Plot 줄기-잎 그림
    • A chart that displays data by splitting values into a “stem” (e.g., tens) and a “leaf” (e.g., units), organizing them to show frequency and distribution.
    • 데이터를 줄기(예: 십의 자리)와 잎(예: 일의 자리)으로 나누어 빈도와 분포를 나타내는 그림입니다.
      
      

Mathematical Concepts in Charts/Graph

1. Slope 기울기
   • The steepness of a line, found by comparing how much it rises or falls for a certain distance.
   • 선의 기울기를 나타내며, 축과 축 간의 변화량을 비교해서 계산합니다.
2. Intercept 절편
   • The point where a graph crosses the -axis or -axis.
   • 그래프가 축 또는 축과 만나는 점입니다.
     
     

3. Correlation 상관관계
   • How strongly two things are related to each other in a graph.
   • 그래프에서 두 데이터 간의 관계를 나타내는 정도입니다.
4. Outlier 이상값
   • A data point that is much different from the others in a set.
   • 다른 데이터와 많이 다른 값을 말합니다.
5. Trendline 추세선
   • A straight or curved line added to a graph to show the overall direction of the data.
   • 데이터의 전반적인 방향성을 보여주기 위해 그려진 선입니다.
6. Frequency 빈도
   • How many times a certain value or range appears in a data set.
   • 데이터 집합에서 특정 값이나 범위가 얼마나 자주 나타나는지 보여줍니다.
7. Interpolation 보간법
   • A way to estimate values between data points you already know.
   • 이미 알려진 데이터 범위 내에서 값을 추정하는 방법입니다.
8. Extrapolation 보외법
   • A way to predict values beyond the range of the data you already know.
   • 이미 알고 있는 데이터 범위를 넘어 값을 예측하는 방법입니다.
